On the 31th of August 2010 the patron parties of the town of Santa Pola have started. The festivities will take place until the 8th of September 2010. We will publish here the program of the festivities in Santa Pola in 2 parts.

Parade in the Streets of Santa Pola

The festival is held in honour of the patron of the town: “La Virgin de Loreto”. During the festivities there are various impressive street parades of the Moors and the Christians, there is also a battle over the towns castle between both group, trying to concur the castle.

During the night there are parties in the bars (barracas) of the group of Moors and Christians.

Below you will find the program for the first part of the festivities held in the town during the “Fiestas en honor de la Virgin Loreto”

31st August

9.00pm Switching on of the festival street lights.
10.30pm OFFICIAL OPENING SPEECH OF THE 2010 FIESTAS, in the Courtyard of the Castle-Fortress.
After the speech, the Municipal Fishermen Stall will be inaugurated.
11.30pm Running of Bulls alt the portable Bullring, installed next to the Stella Maris Hotel.

1st September

8.00am Wake-up call (With bangers & firecrackers)
10.30am Moor’s disembarkation on Playa Levante (opposite the Town Hall), with the firing of muskets and canons.
12.00pm Musical processions, by the Moors and Christians Festivals Association, with the United Santa Pola Musical Group and ‘El Freu’ Choir. Leaves from the Town Hall.
1.00pm Firecrackers in the levelled area of the Castle.
7.00pm Collection by those in charge of the Moors and Christian’s Festival, on behalf of different Musical Groups. The Moors head to the Dock and the Christians to the Castle-Fortress. Moorish embassy forms in front of the Castle, and the Moorish ambassador, accompanied by his escort, forcefully asks for the surrender of the Christians.
‘SOSTRACA’ – Mock Battle, surrendering of the Castle, which is then taken by the Moorish Armies.
10.30pm Inauguration of Moors and Christian Street Bars (known as ‘kábilas’, ‘cuartelillos’ and ‘barracas’)

6.30pm Collection by those in charge of the Moors and Christian’s Festival, on behalf of different Musical Groups. The Moors head to the Castle-Fortress and the Christians to the end of town.
CHISTIAN EMBASSY in front of the Castle, the Ambassador, accompanied by his assistant, undertake the surrendering of the Castle by the Moorish armies.
RECONQUEST Re-enacted battle between both sides using muskets, the Moors surrender and leave the Castle going to the Square. Christians enter the Castle.
10.30pm Moor and Christian Street Bar Fiestas.

3rd September

8.00am Wake-up call (With bangers)

7.30pm Parade by the musical groups who participated in the Moors and Christians Conquest/Reconquest, from Calle Muelle to the ‘Palmeral’ Park.
8.30pm MOORS & CHRISTIANS PARADE, itinerary: from the ‘Palmeral’ Park, along Calle Elche, Glorieta and Muelle.
11.00pm Moor and Christian Street Bar Fiestas.

Festival on the sea 2010

On Saturday the 7th of August on Playa La Glea in the beautiful area of Dehesa de Campoamor the “On The Sea festival 2010″ is celebrated.

The bands that are coming are: The Fall, Trans Am, Moon Duo, Wau y los Arrrghs, Jonathan Reilly, Los Platanos and DJ. Omar Leon.

Summer Festival Entre Naranjos

The Entre Naranjos summer festival, on the 19th, the 20th and 21th of July in the Entre Naranjos urbanization, Orihuela Costa. From 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening market stall with local products, music, various food and drink stall with specialities from all over the area.

Entre Naranjos belongs to the Orihuela Costa area and therefore the townhall of Orihuela offers a free bus service. The buses will depart from the Ayuntamiento Orihuela Costa at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 hours. To book your seat on bus please contact Stefan Pokroppa at the Playa Flamenca City Hall.

Festival de Verano Entre Naranjos

El 19, 20 y 21 de Julio se celebra en Entre Naranjos en Orihuela Costa el festival de verano. Música, bebidas y comidas de todo el mundo y puestos de mercado con productos locales.

Entre naranjos es una urbanización de Orihuela Costa y el ayuntamiento de Orihuela les ofrece un servicio de autobús gratis desde el Edificio del ayuntamiento de Playa Flamenca los días 19, 20 y 21 de Julio 2010 a las 11, 12, 13, 14 y 15 horas.

Después del éxito del festival de St. Patricks Day que se celebro aquí, el festival de verano nos espere en Entre Naranjos, ven a visitarlo, la  entrada es gratuito.

El día 24 de junio de 2010 fuimos a comer en Alicante por mi santo, San Juan, en el restaurante “Los Ibericos” en la Calle Gerona en el centro de Alicante. La comida fue estupenda como siempre y la compañía inmejorable. En la plaza de la Montañeta hice esta foto de la Hoguera antes de ir al restaurante.

Nieuw bij Cheaptickets, de goedkope ticket aanbieder op internet, is het ecolabel wat je vanaf heden bij elke vlucht aantreft. Aan de hand van dit label wat een klasse aanduiding geeft gebruikmakend van bijv. gegevens als vluchten die de kortste afstand hebben en de minste tussenstops hebben. Hoe minder tussenstops hoe minder CO2 uitstoot en hoe beter voor het milieu. Wie dus een ticket boekt met een A-klasse label weet dat dit de minst milieu belastende vlucht is.

Wil je nog een stap verder gaan met de zorg voor het milieu dan is er tevens een GreenSeat te boeken, Cheaptickets werkt hiervoor samen met Greenseat. Je kunt dus nu in stap 3 van het boekingsproces kiezen om een Greenseat te boeken. Je betaald dan een extra bedrag om de CO2 uitstoot te compenseren. Meer over Greenseat vindt je hier.

De organisatie GreenSeat gebruikt de inkomsten om deze te investeren in duurzame energieprojecten.
