Restaurant Tres Besos

Restaurant Tres Besos in the town of Gran Alacant has just renovated and expended. The restaurant now has beside a bigger room and terrace also a great open kitchen where can see the chef working on your dishes.  The restaurant is very nice decorated with typical Dutch/Amsterdam scenes and of course stylish furniture mixed with cosy atmosphere.

The menu is typical Dutch with dishes like bread with garlic butter and Old Amsterdam cheese, goat cheese from the oven, Dutch rump steak with pepper sauce, Indonesian pork skewer with peanut sauce and very very Dutch deserts like for example the home-made warm apple-pie and pancakes.

There is no set menu but there is always a special like mussels or spareribs and of course the tasters menu for 2 where you can try a selection of starters, main dishes and deserts of the menu composed by the chef and his team.

Kitchen Tres Besos

The restaurant is open the whole year from 16:00 till 23:00 and the kitchen is open from 18:00 till 23:00, except for the Tuesdays then the restaurant is closed for business.

The restaurant is located in the Carabasi commercial centre between the Avda de Polonia and the Avda de Carrabasi in Gran Alacant. This is the area in Gran Alacant near the famous Carabasi beach and the town of Arenales del Sol. The lovely Tres Besos terrace is ideal for a nice and relaxing end of your beach day.

The Tres Besos serves good food for reasonable prices and of course with a friendly face! This place is really worth a visit.

Dama de Elche

The typical Spanish scenes and landscapes have inspired the artists from all over the World for many years.  George Browell is a painter that lives partly in the UK and partly in Spain, Costa Blanca, and dedicates part of his work to painting Spanish scenes in oil and watercolour paintings.

Above you see the famous “Dama de Elche” that is so typical for the Alicante region, painted in watercolour.

George Browell has an exhition in “la Casa de Cultura” in Santa Pola from May until June, visit the website of the Casa de Cultura for the exact dates of this exhibition. The “Casa de Cultura” is located in the centre of Santa Pola, see map.

Guadalest, Costa Blanca

Another famous location of the county of Alicante is the historical town of Guadalest, George Browell has on his website various watercolour paintings of the town of Guadalest. Everybody who has visited this lovely historical town will remember the great views and scenes from the past. The paintings of George Browell show very well the historical castle and a lovely view from the valley on the town and the castle of Guadalest.

International library of Gran Alacant

A tribute to the Spanish hometown of George Browell, a watercolour painting of the international library of Gran Alacant. The international library of Gran Alacant is very nice located on a cliff and gives beside a great selection of international books of lovely view over the Mediterrenean sea as shown on the painting above.

Halve marathon van Santa Pola

Vandaag 18 januari was de halve marathon van Santa Pola, de twintigste jaarlijkse editie en met meer dan 5800 hardlopers.

Een fantastische dag voor een marathon en een leuke dag uit, lekker zonnig maar niet te heet. We kwamen om 10:30 in Santa Pola net met de start van de marathon, parkeren was geen probleem.

Het mooie van Santa Pola is dat het bijna geheel langs de kust ligt en de route van de marathon voor een groot deel dus langs zee loopt was er volop zon voor de bezoekers.

We hebben eerst natuurlijk langs het parcours gelopen en de renners aangemoedigd, het parcours is 21,7 Km lang en gaat van oost naar west Santa Pola. Wij hebben vooral in het centrum rondgelopen, in het centrum volop feest met een leuke band, een oesterbar met oesters uit de baai van Santa Pola en natuurlijk een Amstel biertent.

Na de marathon zijn we heerlijk over het strand naar een strandbar gelopen om daar op het strand in de zon van een cafe con leche te genieten, wat wil je nog meer op een zondag in januari!

Uitzicht over Gran Alacant

Gran Alacant, een plaatsje vijftien kilometer van Alicante centrum en vijf minuten lopen van de kust.  Voor heel wat Europeanen is het een toevluchtsoord in de zomermaanden om even tot rust te komen en te ontsnappen van de dagelijkse stress.  Anderen hebben hun geboorteland reeds vaarwel gezegd om zich te vestigen in Spanje en hebben besloten te gaan wonen aan het strand en dag in dag uit te genieten van het Mediterrane leven. Gran Alacant biedt vele mogelijkheden voor vakantiegangers, er is keuze uit diverse vakantiehuizen die voor korte en langere termijn te huur zijn.

Gran Alacant ligt in de heuvels van Santa Pola, centraal gelegen op slechts 10 kilometer van Alicante luchthaven en de snelweg naar Valencia & Murcia. Het is een rustige streek met lange witte stranden en een rustige zee.  In de zomermaanden halen we dagelijks ruim de dertig graden maar het zachte zeeklimaat maakt het leven dragelijk.  Het ganse jaar door hebben we zo een 320 dagen zon en kunnen we genieten van een mooie zomer die reeds in april wordt ingezet en zo een zeven maanden duurt.  Een verfrissende duik in de zee is in oktober dan ook nog steeds mogelijk aan het Carabasi strand.

Verder kan je vanuit Gran Alacant makkelijk overal heen met de auto of het openbaar vervoer.  Een nachtje stappen in Alicante of gezellig slenteren aan de dijk in Santa Pola of het naastgelegen Arenales del Sol.  Of je kan ook dichter bij huis blijven en lekker gaan eten in Gran Alacant zelf waar zich verschillende bars en restaurantjes bevinden.
