September in Santa Pola, the annual town festivities and lots of windsurf

Taco
Last week the annual festivities in honor of the patron saint Our Lady of Loreto in Santa Pola began again, in short, the city festivals of the town of Santa Pola. Santa Pola is a fishing village about 20 minutes by car south of the city of Alicante.

In the summer the city center of Santa Pola becomes the heart of many cultural and sporting activities. This year as every year beginning in September (from August 29 to September 7) is the festival of Moors and Christians. But unlike other years in September this year Santa Pola also brings you the World Windsurfing Championships in 2009 (from September 9 to 19) to Santa Pola, more about this in a next article.

Discover ByTheSea for attractive housing during this event. You can see on our website the apartments, bungalows and villas that are available for those days of the festival or to come and enjoy the peace and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. All homes and contact information you will find on our website www.bythesea.es.

The festival of Moors and Christians, celebrated in various cities of Spain has its origins in the battles on the Spanish peninsula at the time of the Reconquista (Reconquest) in the XV century. In later centuries there were sometimes struggles with Turkish or Barbary pirates.
The festival of Santa Pola is the arrival of the Moors, the subjugation of the population, the intake of the castle and then the triumphant victory by the Christian warriors……… presenting the varios bands of both Moors and Cristians like the Llaganyosos, Berbers and Bedouins, Almogávares, Pirates, Knights Templar and Asturiërs.
This is the time to come and enjoy the city, its activities, the great gastronomy and hospitality of Santa Pola on the Costa Blanca.
