The blue flag is a global guarantee for clean and safe bathing. The organization FEE exists since 1987 and they reward blue flags to beaches that meet the requirements. FEE has rewarded worldwide around 3200 beaches and marinas with a blue flag. In Spain, in 2009 no less than 571 beaches and marinas are awarded with a blue flag.

In the region of Santa Pola, Gran Alacant, El Altet and Arenales del Sol the following beaches are in the possession of a blue flag: Las Calas del Este, La Playa del Varadero, Playa Levante, Playa Tamarit, Playa El Altet, Playa la Marina and Pesqueres playa el Rebollo.
The Club Nautico Santa Pola also has a blue flag and the nature resort el Clot Galvani Carabasi, the beach (between Gran Alacant and Arenales del Sol) has also been some years in the possession of the blue flag.
The blue flag is a quality label and each year the requirements must be accomplished by the manager of the beach.
Check the website blueflag.org for the complete updated list of all the blue flag beaches and marinas in the region of Alicante.

Blueflag.org, together with the beer Corona Extra has launched the “Corona save the beach” program to save endangered beaches. Visit the special site for more information and what you can do to save your favourite beach!
