One of the most impressive spots of the rich natural enviroment of the county of Alicante are the caves of Canalobre near the town of Busot.

The caves are located on only 3 kilometre from the town of Busot and they belong to the mountain ridge “la Sierra de Cabeza de Oro”. The entrance of the caves you will find on a height of about 700 metre above sea level. There is a signposted road towards caves of Canalobre, where you will find a small information centre with a shop where you can buy special rocks and minerals like: opal, jade, quartz and more.

The biggest attraction of the caves is the central room which is, because of its height, 70 metre, and its beauty often compared with a cathedral. The caves of Canalobre are drip stone caves with an average temperature of throughout the year of 18 and 19 degrees Celsius. In the drip stone caves you can see during the guided tour various different forms of rocks in the form of animals, candlestick and other spectacular forms.

The acoustic shape is also perfect, therefore the caves are used for concerts on regular base.

The opening hours of the Cuevas de Canalobre are:

Wintertime:
From the 16th of September until the 30th of June
Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 16:50
Saturday, Sunday and Bank holidays from 10:30 to 17:50

Summer time:

From the 1th of July until the 15th of September and during Easter:

All days from 10:30 to 19:50

Closed on the 25th of December and the 1th of January.

Een van de mooiste plekken in de rijke natuur van de provincie Alicante zijn de afgelegen grotten “las Cuevas de Canalobre” bij de plaats Busot.

De grotten liggen op slechts 3 kilometer afstand van de plaats Busot en behoren tot het berggebied “la Sierra Cabeza de Oro”. De ingang van de grotten ligt op een hoogte van ongeveer 700 meter.

De grootste attractie van de grotten is de centrale kamer van de grotten welke door de hoogte, van 70 meter, en schoonheid vaak vergeleken wordt met een cathedraal. De Cuevas de Canalobre is een druipsteengrot met een gemiddelde temperatuur door het jaar heen tussen de 18 en de 19 graden Celcius. In de druipsteengrot kunt u tijdens de rondleiding verschillende vormen rotsen vinden, vormen van dieren, kandelaars en andere spectaculaire vormen.

De akoestische vormgeving is ook uitstekend, de grotten worden daarom ook regelmatig als concertzaal gebruikt.

Van 16 september tot en met 30 juni
Maandag tot vrijdag van 10:30 tot 16:50
Zaterdag, zondag en feestdagen van 10:30 tot 17:50

Zomer
Van 1 juli tot en met 15 september en gedurende de paasdagen

Alle dagen van van 10:30 tot 19:50

Gesloten op 25 december en 1 januari.

Dentro de la riqueza natural existente en la provincia de Alicante, ocupan un lugar de excepción uno de los lugares mas recónditos del paisaje alicantino, las cuevas de canalobre.

Situadas a escasamente tres kilómetros de la localidad de Busot, geográficamente se hallan sobre la Sierra Cabeza de Oro a una altura (la entrada) de unos 700 metros aproximadamente.
El mayor atractivo de este monumento natural lo constituye una sala central, que ofrece un espectáculo inimaginable desde el exterior, al albergar una bóveda de unos 70 metros de altura, configurando así un entorno acústico excepcional, lo cual unido a la presencia de formaciones geológicas tales como estalactitas y estalagmitas de grandes dimensiones y formas variadas, dejan un recuerdo imborrable en la memoria del visitante.

Por otro lado indicar que la temperatura media anual en el interior de las mismas es de unos 18-19 grados centígrados.
