Wereld kampioenschappen Windsurf 2009
Santa Pola is gekozen als de bestemming voor het werelds grootste sport evenement in de categorie Windsurf. Santa Pola zal de “hoofdstad” van het Wereldkampioenschap Formule Windsurfen worden tijdens het toernooi.
Het toernooi zal plaatsvinden in de baai van Santa Pola, op slechts 15 kilometer van Alicante, van 13 tot 19 september 2009.
Deelnemers uit de hele wereld, afkomstig van vijf continenten zullen zich verzamelen voor deze gelegenheid. De toeschouwers zullen de mogelijkheid hebben atleten te bewonderen van het kaliber van Fernando Martínez del Cerro en Pablo Ania Borrachina uit Spanje en Michael Polanowski , Ross Williams, Gonzalo Costa Hoevel of Steve Allen en nog veel meer atleten uit diverse landen.
De mascotte en het logo gemaakt voor het internationale imago van dit toernooi is “Wind”, sportief en met een fris en avontuurlijk uiterlijk.

World championship windsurf Santa Pola
Santa Pola has been chosen as the destination for the celebration of the sporting world’s largest in the category Windsurf. It will be the capital of the World Championship Formula Windsurfing.
The tournament will take place in the Bay of Santa Pola, only 15 kilometres from Alicante, on days 13 to 19 September 2009.
Participants from around the world, from the five continents will gather for the occasion. We will have the opportunity to delight in watching athletes of the caliber of Fernando Martínez del Cerro and Pablo Ania Borrachina representing Spain and other countries send participators as Michael Polanowski , Ross Williams, Gonzalo Costa Hoevel or Steve Allen and many more.

La bahía de Santa Pola será escenario del Campeonato del Mundo de Fórmula Windsurfing que se disputará en septiembre de 2009, después de que la International Windsurfing Association (IWA) la haya designado como sede de este gran evento del deporte náutico que, por primera vez en esta especialidad, se celebra en España.
El Mundial será organizado por el Club Windsurf Santa Pola, con el aval del Consejo Superior de Deportes, la Real Federación Española de Vela y la Federación de Vela de la Comunidad Valenciana.
La cita se desarrollará en el mes de septiembre de 2009 en aguas de la bahía de Santa Pola y vendrán los mejores windsurfistas del planeta.
